Abbigayle Welch, just finished her senior year of high school and is from the state of Utah. She will be attending Utah State University in the fall and is planning to major in Vocal Performance.

Because of her passion for music, Abbigayle has been involved in the performing arts in both her school and community. Some of her notable roles include Anna Leonowens in "the King and I" Lily Craven in "The Secret Garden" and Miss Jones in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying."

In addition to performing, Abbigayle has also acted as an assistant musical director for children's productions. She loves helping children gain an appreciation and love for art and music.

Abbigayle was recently named the north-east region sterling scholar winner for vocal performance and is excited to continue a career doing what she loves.

"Music is my passion as well as my escape. Often as I face life's struggles and challenges, I will sit down at my piano and sing. When I have negative thoughts or debilitating fears, I have learned that music can calm me. I know that most people have similar experiences with music. Although I have entertained interests in journalism from time to time, I always seem drawn to opportunities that arise for me to further my study in vocal performance. Because I continually seem to come back to music, I have decided that studying vocal performance is the path that I should follow in my future education. My goal is to inspire people with uplifting music and to help brighten the world with the talents I have to share."

What really helped us pick Abbigayle for the scholarship, was when she explained why she loved music. You can read her response here:

“I love the ability music has to connect the emotions of people. It can make people happy and stay in tune with their emotions. There have been many times in which I am able to use music as my outlet when I’m struggling. I love to share the happiness that music brings to others as well. I absolutely love to perform because I love watching the smiles of the observers as they begin to feel that happiness and emotion that music can bring to pass.”

Thanks for being such an amazing recipient, Abbigayle! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you. Learn more about Abbigayle below:
